Celebs have expressed their excitement on Twitter over the election of the new Pope Francis, the first pope from Latin America. Funny man George Lopez was one of the first to say something, “Please call me Pope JORGE!” Minutes later, Craig Ferguson joked that the new pope would “replace Leno on NBC at 11:30.”

The remarkably fast conclave was mirrored by the reaction of the Latin American Hollywood community. Actor Aziz Ansari jokingly said, ““Feeling good about my chances to be new pope. My agents said I should hear something today…,” he wrote, while the “How I Met Your Mother” actor Neil Patrick Harris told his followers to watch out for ordained tweets. “New pope news soon! You might want to follow @TheTweetOfGod for all papal updates. He has an ‘in,’” he posted.

All jokes aside, the Latin American entertainment industry seems to have a positive outlook on the new pope and with such influence on today’s pop-culture, Vatican City may have made an Oscar worthy choice.
