Keeping that J-Lo Glow takes discipline

In my 12 years of a clinical practice that specializes in transforming Latina bodies, many patients come into a consultation with a photo of a Latina celebrity and say, “I want my breasts to look exactly like hers.”
This isn’t just something that happens in the United States. Latina cosmetic surgery makeovers are popular in Latin American countries too. For example, there was a recent article in the Huffington Post about a young Colombian beauty who wanted a Jennifer Lopez-style backside. While this young woman was joining thousands of other Latinas with the same wish, the funny thing was that her name was…Jennifer Lopez.
The Colombian Jennifer Lopez’s mother spent lots of money on three plastic surgery procedures – buttock enhancement, breast implants, and liposuction – to sculpt her body to be a double for the Puerto Rican J-Lo.
From the photos published in the Huffington Post, this 23-year-old had perfectly achieved a match with her idol’s body model.
“Since the surgery, I’ve had so much attention from men,” she was quoted as saying. “I love it.”
It’s my experience that Latinas represent a wide range of body types, depending on which Latin American country their genes came from. What also sets Latinas apart is that they want to look sexy at any age. Sensuality is important to the Hispanic culture, so it’s natural that any Latina will always try to radiate sensuality while aging gracefully.
But the J-Lo glow and sex appeal is not the only Latina celebrity body that Latinas long for. Other Latina entertainers that patients want to emulate are Salma Hayek, Sofia Vergara, and Eva Longoria, among others. The Colombian singer Shakira is also a favorite body type Latinas desire.
But after investing thousands of dollars in a body makeover, I have found there are other aspects of my patients’ lifestyles that have to be altered as well to keep that celebrity appeal. Diet and workouts are big reasons why these famous Latina ladies shine in the media spotlight.
When J-Lo’s not performing on stage, she is dancing up a cardio storm in her regular Zumba classes. She also lets people know that she prefers a wholesome, healthy diet of whole grains, vegetables, fruits, and plenty of water. Soda drinks are out, and she keeps her cocktail consumption to a minimum.
In addition, there are toning exercises that can keep that new backside looking good. Some popular ones are stair or stadium step running, hip extensions, and kickbacks. Ask your fitness instructor at your gym about these and other butt-tightening exercises. They can help you with a workout plan that you can follow.
You’ve already made a sizeable investment in your new body. Eating right and continued exercising with a trainer are smaller but just as important investments in maintaining that Latina celebrity glow that you’ve worked so hard to achieve.
