Trump Says DACA Citizenship For A Wall
Latina.com’s Jenifer Calle reports that President Trump is willing to trade a pathway to citizenship for DACA recipients for his border wall. –
” President Donald Trump said today that he supports an immigration plan that offers a pathway to citizenship for DREAMers and DACA recipients over a 10-12 year period.
A bipartisan legislative solution has not been made yet to address the 800,000 undocumented youth who risk deportation after the Trump Administration ended DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals).
Trump has been clear that he would not discuss immigration without funding for border security and for his key campaign promise to build a wall.
In an interview with reporters he said “over a period of 10-12 years somebody does a great job, they’ve worked hard and gives the incentive to do a great job,” they would be able to become citizens. The trade for citizenship for roughly 1.8 million people and a $25 billion dollar wall is the immigration framework that Trump supports.
However, he’s received criticism from both Democrats and Republicans. Democrats see the proposal as using young undocumented people as a bargaining tool to fulfill the wishes of alt-right and anti-immigration lawmakers.
While @realDonaldTrump finally acknowledged that the Dreamers should be allowed to stay here and become citizens, he uses them as a tool to tear apart our legal immigration system and adopt the wish list that anti-immigration hardliners have advocated for for years. 2/2

Conservative Republicans are against a proposal that they believe gives amnesty to people. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) told High Plains Pundit the proposal ” is contrary to the promises made to the voters who elected us.”
A bipartisan immigration deal such as this proposal would need 60 votes in the Senate in order for it to pass but it seems like there is still a long way to go. ”
