‘Riverdale’ Star Camila Mendes Admitted She Struggled With an Eating Disorder
In a very personal Instagram post on Thursday, Riverdale star Camila Mendes announced her partnership with Project HEAL, a nonprofit organization that provides grant funding for people with eating disorders who cannot afford treatment. The cause is near and dear to the actress’s heart because she and her sister have struggled with the illness themselves.

“I can say from experience that eating disorders are serious mental illnesses,” the Brazilian star wrote. “Growing up, I watched my big sister suffer from one for many years, and I’ve experienced periods of my life when I’ve suffered symptoms as well.”
The 23-year old actress wants to bring awareness to how serious the disorder is, writing, “I’m joining Project HEAL to help break the stigma associated with eating disorders.”
Mendes will be attending the organization’s upcoming gala this weekend where the organization be auctioning off a day on the set of Riverdale.
The actress plays Veronica Lodge on the CW series, which is loosely based on the Archie comics.
