Robles Fight Doctor at Olympic star Cejudo’s MMA debut
Dr. Ramon Angel Robles, a Phoenix-based plastic surgeon, has been designated the Official Fight Doctor for the World Fighting Federation Mixed Martial Arts event to be held March 2 at the Casino del Sol Event Center in Tucson, Arizona.
Dr. Robles is a former high school championship wrestler, and has been a fight doctor for three other mixed martial arts events.
“My wrestling carrier began in third grade, and throughout junior high and high school,” Dr. Robles says. “I was on Sunnyside’s first state championship team and won two state team championships in three years. Furthermore, I coached my younger brothers, my son and numerous other kids in high school wrestling.”
“The WFFMMA’s owner, Thom Ortiz, is a personal friend of mine.” Dr. Robles says. “He grew up in the same neighborhood and went to the same high school, Sunnyside High School in Tucson, which just won their 30th Arizona State Team Wrestling Championship in 33 years!”
He adds, “It has been an honor for me to be part of his organization. Anything to help one of my homies.”
Dr. Robles has been practicing his plastic surgery specialty in the Valley for 12 years. He was trained at the prestigious Aesthetic Center at Duke University Medical Center. He is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Robles Plastic Surgery offices are located at 5333 N. 7th St., Phoenix. His phone number is 602.684.8911 and his Website is Dr.Robles@Roblesplasticsurgery.com
Dr. Robles will preside as fight doctor at the first fight of Henry Cejudo, Olympic Gold Medal winner, who has announced that he will be making his mixed martial arts debut at this March 2 event. Cejudo will be facing a local fighter, Michael Poe at bantamweight, in what will serve as the evening’s co-main event.
In the 2008 Olympics, Cejudo captured the gold medal at 121 pounds in Olympic freestyle wrestling. At those Olympics held in Beijing, China, he was just 21 years old. He defeated Tomohiro Matsunaga in the gold medal match. He originally intended to return in 2012, but he was unable to qualify for the U.S. team.
