The 25-year-old singer was just starting to sing the verse, “if happy is her, I’m happy for you” when her voice just couldn’t climb the high note. She struggled with the first word, and tried to push through when eventually she just said “F*ck.” While most would find the situation embarrassing, the star carried a big smile on her face, threw up her hands, and said: “I don’t know what to do.” But the show must go on! The “Tell Me You Love Me” singer showed her true talent when she brought the song down an octave to match her voice in the moment.

Lovato’s test of true character prevailed and her fans followed the mishap with applause. Later that night, the singer joked with Z100 host Elvis Duran saying, “That’s what we call not lip-syncing” and mentioned she was feeling under the weather.
