‘Latin American Music Awards’ 2017 Nominees

Telemundo just announced the list of nominees for the third edition of the Latin American Music Awards. Shakira got the highest number of nominations with nine in all, followed by Maluma with eight.

Daddy Yankee, Enrique Iglesias, Luis Fonsi, Nicky Jam, Prince Royce and Romeo Santos each earned five. Produced by Telemundo and Somos productions, the event will air live from the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, CA on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 9 pm/8c, highlighting performances by the most important artists for Latinos in the United States, regardless of language. In addition, the event will be preceded by the glamorous “Latin AMAs Carpet” at 8 pm/7c.

Beginning today until October 17 at 4pm ET / 3c, fans in the United States and Puerto Rico can vote for their favorite artists through the website and fans from around the world can vote through Twitter.

Shakira’s nominations include the coveted “Artist of the Year category.” The world-renowned Colombian singer was also nominated as “Favorite Female Artist – Pop / Rock.” Her album “El Dorado” competes for “Album of the Year” and “Favorite Album – Pop / Rock.” The collaboration with Prince Royce, “Deja Vu”, competes for “Single of the Year” and “Favorite Song – Tropical.” “Chantaje,” Shakira’s song featuring Maluma, earned three nominations for both artists, including “Single of the Year,” “Favorite Song – Pop / Rock” and “Favorite Collaboration.”

Urban music singer Maluma received eight nominations including the three previously mentioned. He is also nominated as “Artist of the Year” and “Favorite Artist – Urban.” His song “Felices Los 4” competes for “Single of the Year” and “Favorite Song – Urban.” Finally, Maluma’s collaboration with Ricky Martin, “Vente Pa’Ca,” is nominated as “Favorite Song – Pop / Rock.”

Artists with five nominations include: Daddy Yankee, nominated as “Artist of the Year” and “Favorite Artist – Urban;” his record collaboration with Luis Fonsi featuring Justin Bieber, “Despacito” competes for “Single of the Year,” “Favorite Song – Pop / Rock” and “Favorite Collaboration.” Luis Fonsi also competes for “Artist of the Year” and “Favorite Male Artist – Pop / Rock.” Enrique Iglesias is nominated for “Artist of the Year” and “Favorite Male Artist – Pop / Rock.” His song “Súbeme La Radio,” featuring Descemer Bueno and Zion & Lennox, competes for “Single of the Year,” “Favorite Song – Pop / Rock” and “Favorite Collaboration.”

Nicky Jam competes for “Artist of the Year” and “Favorite Artist – Urban;” his song “El Amante” is nominated as “Single of the Year” and “Favorite Song – Urban.” The album “Fénix” by Nicky Jam is nominated as “Favorite Album -Urban.” Prince Royce competes for “Favorite Artist – Tropical;” his album “Five” competes for “Album of the Year” and “Favorite Album – Tropical.”

Prince Royce also received the three previously mentioned nominations with Shakira. Romeo Santos competes for “Artist of the Year” and “Favorite Artist – Tropical;” his song “Imitadora” competes for “Favorite Song – Tropical” while his album “Golden” competes for “Album of the Year” and “Favorite Album – Tropical.”

Artists nominated for four awards include: Banda Sinaloense MS by Sergio Lizárraga, CNCO, J Balvin, Justin Bieber and Zion & Lennox. Those with three nominations include: Calibre 50, Christian Nodal, Descemer Bueno and Wisin.

Artists with two nominations include: Gente de Zona, Gerardo Ortiz, Juan Gabriel, Los Plebes Del Rancho De Ariel Camacho and Ulices Chaidez y Sus Plebes.

The 2017 “Latin AMAs” nominees are based on key fan interactions with music, including, but not limited to, sales, airplay, streaming and social activity tracked by Billboard through its data partners Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound from September 2016 to August 2017.
