Pablo Escobar’s Brother Threatens Netflix’s ‘Narcos’

Roberto Escobar Gaviria, the brother of the late Pablo Escobar, addressed the recent murder of Netflix’s location scout. The body of Carlos Munoz Portal, 37, was found in central Mexico with multiple bullet wounds and no signs of life. The location scout was in his native country taking pictures in the Mexican state of Hidalgo – an area where crime is prevalent. While the news of his death is disturbing to many, the 71-year-old addressed the issue in a very Escobar-like fashion.

“You have to eliminate all threats,” he said to The Hollywood Reporter, adding, ‘If you have the intellect, you don’t need to use weapons. If not, you have to. In this case, Netflix should provide hitmen to their people as security.’

While everyone watches season 3 in excitement and suspense, Escobar Gaviria heeds a warning in a letter to Netflix. In the letter, he describes the use of his family’s name without permission and despite the recent terrorizing event, demands that the entertainment company pay his company, Escobar Inc., a sum of $1 billion.
