Jose Trifilio is an up-and-coming designer who believes that fashion is an art, and the designer is the artist. Through his art, Jose has helped men and women from all walks of life to look and feel their best. Currently Jose is developing a ready-to-wear resort line, from the beach to the spotlight.  Jose is also a featured designer for the upcoming Latino Fashion Live fashion show at Wild Horse Pass Hotel and Casino on April 20th. Jose’s designs are all about individuality and making you feel special. ArizonaLatinos conducted an interview with this Valley fashion-maker  to discover how he conceives his designs, and how he wants those wearing his line to respond to his artistry.

“I want that woman to turn heads when she walks in the room, make her glow, get that presence,” he explains.

Tell us more about your work?

I do everything from couture to being a style consultant. I take appointments for women who want to have an original design, and for women from all walks of life that may not be able to afford couture.

What does original work mean to you?

I get inspired to create designs but also to discuss and collaborate with what my client wants. It is great to see appreciation; it is great to work together to design!

What inspires you as a designer?

Every day people and nature are two of my favorite inspirations. I see beauty in everything. I can be weird about where I find beauty and inspiration; it could be a conversation with a stranger or really anything.  It is all about the unexpected — designs that talk to the imagination.

How about as a stylist?  What has made you want to help dress women and men – and not just with your own creations?

Stylists are teachers, as a designer you’re not just there to sell someone how to dress but teaching them how to dress. Modern women like versatility, and as a designer it is a promotion of fashion and style as a whole — empowering women and making them feel beautiful.

Is your work strictly for women?

For me it’s personally hard to find clothing, so I have been able to observe and have experience to create wardrobes that can work for men as well. I am focusing on making men’s clothes a specialty.

Are there any designers that you look up to?

A couple of fashion mentors I look up to are Coco Chanel and Carolina Herrera; these are designers that have really evolved throughout generations. Carolina Herrera is a new designer who is doing everything;  you can’t stop her, and she has no limits.

What aspirations do you have about your work in the future?

I like the idea of having a store front; developing a studio here in the near future. All that comes from the work and what you strive for. I would love to display new designers in there as well. There are some amazing new designers; young people who are passionate about music, art, entertainment, and fashion. Younger people are more inclined and drawn to that field.

As a designer it’s all fun and games, but as a business man it is the business of fashion. It changes every day; you want to get the most audience to see and want it. To be welcoming to all people, and which people can easily understand.

Any last words for our ArizonaLatinos.com readers?

I am grateful for being allowed to be a part of the site, and to encourage Latinas and Latinos to protect their dreams and stay a committed citizen. We are a strong group of citizens and fabulous!
