Latinos Dominate the VMAs Nomination List

by Alexis Morillo

The year has been full of amazing hits and Latinos were seen and heard when it came to music. Although Kendrick Lamar tops the list with eight nominations in total, some of our faves like Bruno Mars, Selena Gomez, and Fifth Harmony also earned nods for their songs and videos.

There’s no surprise that Bruno Mars earned a nomination for Video of the Year for “24k Magic,” while the director earned a well-deserved nod in the Best Direction category.  Mars is also up for Artist of the Year alongside Ed Sheeran and Lorde.

SelGo also made her way on the list of nominations for two of her hit collaborations this year. Her mellow ballad “We Don’t Talk Anymore” with Charlie Puth is up for Best Collaboration and the catchy song “It Ain’t Me” with Kygo was nominated for Best Dance.

Finally, our favorite girl band Fifth Harmony found their way on the list of nominations for “Down” featuring Gucci Mane, which is up for Best Pop Song and Best Choreography.

Latinos really represented this year and hopefully with our votes they can bring home some Moonmen para la cultura!

Check out the full list of nominations here.
