The Arizona Cardinals entered the 2016 season as one of the favorite teams to make it deep into the NFL playoffs; a set of unforeseen circumstances, injuries and some bad luck prevented the Red Birds from even making it into the postseason.

In the final game the Cardinals beat the Los Angeles Rams 44-6 to finish with a record of 7-8-1, while the Rams record stands at 4-12.

The Cardinals finished the season with two straight wins (Seattle and L.A. Rams), quarterback Carson Palmer was very pleased with his team’s effort, especially the veterans, “We have a great group of leaders, It’s really easy to kind of shut it down and our veterans and leaders didn’t let that happen,” said Palmer after the game.

One veteran who will have the eyes of the pro football during the off season will be receiver Larry Fitzgerald who has not decided if this will be his last year with the Cardinals.

Whether he goes back to the Cardinals or not, Fitzgerald was very pleased with the way the team finished the season, “We really finished the season on a high note, the way we were able to perform last week in Seattle and then coming up here and following up with a good performance here in L.A.,” said Fitzgerald during a post game conference.

Fitzgerald in his 13th season with the Cardinals finished Sunday’s game with fiver receptions and a touchdown, leading the NFL with 107 catches for the season.

Palmer finished the game with 20-for-38 for 255 passing yards, 3 touchdowns and 1 interception.

For the Rams starting quarterback Jared Goff finished with 120 passing yards on 13-for-20.

The lone 6 points for the Rams were scored in the second quarter of the game.

Arizona’s star running back David Johnson left the game in the first quarter after injuring his left knee.

It is expected that Johnson will make the Pro Bowl next month; he finished the season with 1,233 rushing yards.
