Cinderella Affair lets local girls feel like princesses
One of the greatest things about fashion is the power it holds to make a difference in people’s lives. From couture runway shows that donate thousands of dollars to charities to local shelters that collect clothing for the homeless, fashion has the power to make big changes in a community.
The Cinderella Affair is an all-volunteer program that enables high school juniors and seniors to feel and look like princesses at their proms. The program is supported by the Tempe Community Council, the City of Tempe and the East Valley Women’s League. Founded in 2002, for over 10 years volunteers have been collecting and donating gently used formal wear to provide dress for local girls to wear to their proms. Many are clients of Hacienda de Los Angeles and young ladies from the Miss CHAMPION pageant.
Every girl deserves a chance to look her best on one of the most special nights of her life. To participate in the 12th annual free prom-dress drive and help dreams come true, you can donate your dress year-round in the Tempe Community Council offices or visit one of the donation sites active from Feb. 1 through Feb. 21.
