Latinos Earn 2015 Model of the Year Titles by Phoenix Fashion Week

I feel so fortunate to have become familiar with some young Latinos who are leaving their mark in the fashion industry – an industry that is a tough one to break into; but with confidence and the right support, anyone should be able to accomplish their dreams. Such is the case for Jesus Rojas and Tali Talburt, recently named 2015 Models of the Year by Phoenix Fashion Week.

Born in Hermosillo, Sonora, Jesus Rojas has an undeniable passion for fashion, something that runs in his blood. His mother was a model and his brother was named one of the best dressed in the state. Thus, it was no surprise to him when he immediately fell in love with modeling. Later on, he was persuaded by a friend to audition for a show called, “Style Stalkers.” Jesus was selected and was taught the fundamentals of the catwalk. This gave him the confidence to audition for Phoenix Fashion Week, and now he’s proud to announce he’s signed on with Agency AZ.

Rojas advises others to embrace their body, as “it is meant to be represented proudly and with confidence.”

Tali Talbur is the proud female winner of the 2015 Model of the Year. Just looking at her, it is evident Tali has never been camera shy. She attributes this to her background in figure skating and ballet. Tali admits she admires and was influenced by her mother’s fashion style, but as she grew older, she began owning her own style. She realizes that her passion for fashion really sparked when she was asked to be a model for her mom’s friend’s swimwear company.

“I loved just being able to bring the designs of fashion designers to life,” she said.

Talibur has also signed with Agency AZ and says she’s thankful to the Phoenix Fashion Week team for the opportunities given to her and now embraces her future in fashion.
