Kobe Says Adieu to his NBA Career with the Lakers Scoring 60 points
By Francisco Romero
As the saying goes, “All good things come to an end,” and such was last night for future basketball Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant in his last game with the Lakers.
The 37-year old and 5-time NBA Champion went out on a high, scoring 60 points against and the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night; the Lakers won 101-96.
Although it was not the way he wanted to end up his career, Bryant had a blast during his last game, “The perfect ending would have been a championship. That’s a perfect ending to me. Tonight was trying to go out playing hard and try to put on a show as much as I possibly could. It felt good to be able to do that one last time,” Bryant told a room full of reporters after the game.
Bryant was in disbelief in regards to the way things turned out for him Wednesday night,
“It’s hard for me to believe that it happened this way, it really is,” Bryant said.
Friends, family, former teammates were in attendance to watch Kobe, even Magic Johnson called him the greatest Laker ever, “I refuse to believe it because Magic is my hero. Like, I don’t think you guys truly understand how much of a diehard Lakers fan I was. Magic was all over my wall. I used to wear really big kneepads because Magic wore really bad kneepads. I used to practice the baby hook. He is, and always will be No. 1 for me.
Bryant was happy that his kids were able to watch him put on a great show, “The coolest thing is that my kids actually saw me play like I used to play. It was like, ‘Whoa, dad!’ I said, ‘Yeah, I used to do this pretty often.’ They were like, ‘really?’ I said, ‘Dude, YouTube it.’ You know what I mean? It was pretty cool for them to actually see that.”
Adiós, adieu, addio, adeus Kobe… We shall see you in the Hall of Fame soon!
