(Tempe, AZ) – The Hispanic Business Alumni (HBA) at Arizona State University is pleased to introduce the “Sparky Classic,” the newest charity golf tournament in the Phoenix area.  This inaugural tournament will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at the Wigwam Golf Resort.  With a vision to empower students at the W.P. Carey School of Business at ASU to excel academically, all net proceeds will go towards providing financial support to aspiring students through scholarship.

Over the past decade, HBA at ASU has provided over $1 million in scholarship funds to students enrolled full-time at the W.P. Carey School of Business.  Each appointed scholar maintains a 3.0 GPA, completes community service hours and fosters a mentorship with a board member of HBA.

“As an organization, we are fortunate to provide deserving students with the funds to achieve their dreams, one class at a time,” explained current HBA President Raul Martinez.  “Each scholarship opportunity is only possible because of the generous donations from community businesses.  We are so thankful, year after year, for the local ties we have built.”

The “Sparky Classic” at the Wigwam Golf Resort will begin at 7:00 a.m. for registration, followed by an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start.  The Wigwam Golf Resort is located at 451 N. Old Litchfield Rd., Litchfield, Arizona 85340.   Various sponsorship opportunities are still available, including corporate foursomes.  Contact raul.martinez@asuhba.org for additional sponsorship information.
