Eva Longoria Returns to Primetime TV on NBC’s ‘Telenovela’ Series

Eva Longoria is showing off her talents in the new NBC series, “Telenovela.”

The 13-episode series will officially premiere on January 4th, but the network gave fans a two-episode preview event Monday.

In the series, Longoria stars as Ana Maria, a beautiful diva and star of a popular telenovela. Monday’s preview shows the Ana getting a big surprise when her ex-husband joins the cast of her telenovela. Later, a workplace romance and an unexpected visitor threatens Ana’s newly-implemented honesty policy on set.

During this year’s Television Critics Association’s winter press tour, NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt said “Telenovela” will be offering a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into the making of an actual soap opera.

The new project comes from co-executive producers Chrissy Pietrosh and Jessica Goldstein, along with Universal Television, where Longoria’s Unbelievable Entertainment is under an overall deal.

“Telenovela” will be kicking off January 4th at 8:30 p.m. Eastern on NBC.
