“We started organizing Stylos Awards 10 years ago to create a platform for showcasing the incredible talent of the people of Phoenix,” says Nuvia Enriquez from the Isac Amaya Foundation. “Now Stylos has become an emblematic event in our city and we’re very thankful for those that have supported us over the years.”
Past Stylos Award recipients include Worker’s Rights trailblazer Dolores Huerta, Councilman Daniel Valenzuela, former Arizona Governor Raul Castro, the Downtown Phoenix Journal, renowned artist Gennaro García and restauranteur Silvana Salcido Esparza. Stylos Awards was one of the first Latino cultural events to be held at the Phoenix Art Museum to where organizers brought international acts such as the Mexican Institute of Sound, and Latin Grammy winners La Santa Cecilia and Carla Morrison.
Stylos 2015 will be held at The Pressroom in Downtown Phoenix. A walk through the red carpet begins at 7 p.m. The awards ceremony will start at 8 p.m. and it will include its signature fashion show featuring local fashion designers, followed by the long line-up of bands and DJs at 10:00 p.m. Tickets are available at www.StylosAwards.com.
Proceeds from the event go towards the creation of scholarships for Latino students seeking to achieve a higher education. The Isac Amaya Foundation has awarded more than 20 scholarships including one given to Daniel Rodriguez, ASU graduate student and former president of activist organization Somos América who fundraised his way through Law School and has since started his law practice.
