Have you ever met a man and wondered why he said what he said and why he did what he did? Instead of spending hours picking him apart with analysis, we’ve asked a few AZLatinos male readers what they really mean when they say the following phrases.

Name/Age

Male 1: Christian, 25

Male 2: Daniel, 30

Male 3: William, 25

Male 4: Rob, 40

When I say…

  1. “Let’s hang out sometime.”

Christian: If it’s after 12 a.m. it means let’s have sex. Before 12 a.m. means let’s go out and get to know each other better.”

Daniel: “I like you on a certain level and would love to get to know you deeper.”

William: “I think you’re cool and I would like to get to know you better; but not enough to set a time… It could be anytime in the next five years.”

Rob: “I am interested in more than hanging out. Possibly getting to know her better to develop something deeper.”

  1. “Bring your friend!”

Christian: “I have a friend who wants to hangout too but doesn’t want to be the third wheel.”

Daniel: “I am attracted to your friend.”

William: “Your friend is hot and I want to be seen in public with her. Or, I find your friend to be completely non-threatening, bring him along; he’s cool.”

Rob: “Bring your friend so I can know more about you through your friend.”

  1. “Can I date your friend?”

Christian: “I am not into you but I am into your friend”

Daniel: “Would it make you jealous if I dated your friend?”

William: “I want to sleep with your friend and it would be really cool if you were all right with it… Please say yes!”

Rob: I wouldn’t even ask this. I would approach the person directly.

  1. “Relax…”

Christian: “Calm down, you’re moving too fast. Or, it could also mean to stop stressing over something that doesn’t matter.”

Daniel: “It’s okay love, I am here. We can solve it together.”

William: “You are kind of freaking me out right now and I do not have the professional training to deal with this situation in a delicate manner.”

Rob: “Calm down and let’s talk about it in more detail.”

  1. “I’ll let you know.”

Christian: “If she wants to spend time with me on a certain day and I say ‘I’ll let you know’, I might be busy and not want to commit and let her down. Or, I am not into her and by saying ‘I’ll let you know’ means if I can’t find another woman to hang out with, then she is plan B or C.

Daniel: “If it doesn’t feel right, I’ll let you know.”

William: “I have absolutely no idea, and as soon as we part ways I am going to f***ing Google that s***”

Rob: “If I am honest with myself, it’s probably a no. I am not very interested and am trying to put off making that decision.”

  1. “I’ll text you.”

Christian: “I don’t want her blowing up my cell phone, so I’ll text her.”

Daniel: “Text me first. How rare is that? It’s actually more attractive because there’s a shift of patterns. Oh how change is exciting!”

William: I am hoping we are going to see each other again soon, because there is absolutely no etiquette for how long I should wait before I text you. So I will probably forget for about a week; and when I think about it again, it will probably be too long…”

Rob: “I’ll text you.”

  1. “Are you going to eat all of that?”

Christian: “Your food looks good and I want a taste of whatever you are eating.”

Daniel: “Are you going to eat that? Because there are more exciting things to do besides eating. So let’s get out of here.”

William: “I am either worried or impressed by the quantity of food you just consumed.”

Rob: “I am looking at your food a few times and am determined that I want some of your food.”

  1. “I’ll meet you there.”

Christian: “If it’s nighttime, I probably have plans after the date.”

Daniel: “I value everyone’s time, so I am going to see you there and I can’t wait to spend time with you… and only you.”

William: “I will probably be later than you’d like me to be.”

Rob: “If I say I will meet you there, I will meet you there. I don’t stand people up.”
