(Phoenix, Ariz.)  —  Most of the damage from Monday night’s monsoon has been cleaned up by city of Phoenix crews who have worked around-the-clock since the storm hit the city.  Here are the latest updates:

Streets:

A majority of Phoenix’s major roadways have been restored to their normal operating condition.  As of Wednesday morning, due to on-going power outages, there are seven intersections with non-working traffic signals. Drivers are reminded to treat these intersections and others without working traffic signals as four-way stops. An updated listing of the remaining storm related traffic signal outages is available at phoenix.gov/update.

Street Transportation maintenance crews are currently focusing on clearing storm debris from local residential streets and will continue to do so through the remainder of the week.  Crews also will continue to assess roadways to ensure all signage remains properly secured and positioned.

Residents are encouraged to report any roadway related issues that resulted from the recent storm by contacting the Street Maintenance Dispatch line at 602-262-6441.

If emergency removal of a downed tree/branch or storm debris is needed to clear a street or sidewalk, dial 602-262-6441.

Debris:

Specialists from the city’s Public Works Department continue to respond to calls from residents to assess damage in their neighborhoods and provide collection options. Residents are asked to call 602-262-7251 if they need assistance with storm cleanup.

Large temporary roll-off bins have been placed in strategic locations for residents to place tree branches and other storm debris. City crews are prepared to deliver more bins as needs arise.  The following location of roll-off bins are:

  • 1257 W. Pierce St.
  • 3110 N. 18th Ave.
  • 1302 W. Monroe St.
  • 1547 W. Taylor
  • 1811 W. Verde Ln.
  • 5221 E. Charter Oak St.
  • Along 59th to 75th avenues and Baseline Road – specific addresses will be available this afternoon
  • Currently working on a request for a roll-off bin to be placed north of Thomas and 19th Avenue.

City Parks:

While city parks might be open for public use, keep in mind, crews are still in the process of removing debris and loose branches could pose a hazard.  Park users should use caution around any barricaded areas.  Other updates include:

  • South Mountain Road which leads to the top of the mountain is still closed at the one-mile mark. Staff is establishing a plan and timeline for repairs
  • The Phoenix Zoo is still closed due to downed trees and debris at the zoo. There’s no danger to the animals.
  • The Encanto Park area, has had power restored but the tennis courts will remain closed due to a broken fence.  The short nine golf course is back open; however, the 18 golf course is still down due to debris
  • University Pool at 1002 W. Van Buren St. now has power; however, a broken shade structure remains along with debris in the pool
  • The following community centers are back open: University Park and Recreation Center at 1002 W. Van Buren St., and Bret Tarver Learning Center at 1516 N. 35th Ave.

Sand:

If needed, sand is available at these locations. Residents must bring their own bags.
