Donald Trump is talking solutions.
The real estate mogul has officially released his plan for illegal immigration if he were to be elected president of the United States.
His six-page-long report was released Sunday, and is titled “Immigration Reform That Will Make America Great Again.” Among other things, he highlights the need to end birthright citizenship, saying it “remains the biggest magnet for illegal immigration.”
Trump has been under fire in the topic of immigration since day one upon announcing his presidential bid. During his official announcement back in June, he promised to build a wall on the country’s southern border. Not only that, but stressed the fact that he would make Mexico pay for it.
“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best,” he said in his speech “They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”
In his immigration plan, he keeps his word and calls for triple the amount of ICE officers to secure the border. To pay for a new border wall, Trump’s policy seeks to “impound all remittance payments derived from illegal wages; increase fees on all temporary visas issued to Mexican CEOs and diplomats; increase fees on all border crossing cards (of which one million are issued every year to Mexican nationals); increase fees on all NAFTA worker visas from Mexico; and finally, increase fees at ports of entry to the U.S. from Mexico.
Finally, Trump’s immigration policies would put an end to welfare support for immigrants. In the report he says those who apply for “entry to the U.S. should be required to certify that they can pay for their own housing, healthcare, and other needs before coming to the U.S.”
