Free Workshops in Tempe Help Students Navigate College Process

(Tempe, Ariz.) – Wondering what to do after high school? Questioning which college is right for you? Second guessing how to pay for it all? Join us for the free College Connect workshop to find the answers to these questions and more. The first workshop of the 2015-16 college prep workshop series will be held from 10 a.m. to noon this Saturday, Aug. 15 at the Tempe Public Library, 3500 S. Rural Rd.
The free College Connect workshop series will continue to educate students on the college process from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 26, Nov. 14, Jan. 30 and Feb. 27 at the Tempe Public Library. The workshop series provides access to resources, financial guidance and individualized support. Participants will learn about college and career choices, how to apply to and pay for college and more.

Students attending the workshops will be entered in a drawing to win one of five $250 scholarships, and will receive one entry for each workshop they attend. Provided by the Ramsey Social Justice Foundation, scholarships will be awarded after the workshop series commences on February 27, 2016.
The City of Tempe has partnered with Tempe Union High School District, Tempe Elementary School District, ASU,Grand Canyon University, Mesa Community College, Northern Arizona University, Rio Salado College, University of Advancing Technology and University of Arizona to create College Connect. The community-based program has been specifically designed to assist young people in fulfilling their dreams of a post-secondary education.
