(Miami, FL) — Thursday night’s “Premios Juventud” was filled with surprises, performances, mega-star appearances and so much more.
The ceremony aired live last night from the BankUnited Center at the University of Miami. In the end, it was Enrique Iglesias who earned major honors, as fans voted for him as the best in six different categories.
Luis Coronel didn’t fall too far behind, and walked away as one of his generation’s favorites for the evening. He won the “Just Play It All” award for “Quiero Ser Tu Dueño,” and on top of that, he claimed victory as “Red Hot Artist” and “My Regional Mexican Artist.”
Our very own Boricua Jennifer Lopez was also recognized with two awards, including the “She Steals the Show; Best Movie Actress” category, and the “Favorite Flick” for her role in “The Boy Next Door.”
The ceremony was lit up with chart-topping artists performing at their best on the video-game-themed stage. Ricky Martin kicked the night off with his debut of “La Mordidita.”
El Dasa put everyone up on their feet with an energetic performance of “Alegre y Enamorado” and Yandel followed suit with “Calentura.”
Pitbull, Chino & Nacho and Gloria Trevi were also big performers, along with Wisín, who brought the house down as Anahí joined him to perform “Rumba.” Pop sensation Fifth Harmony rocked it with their performance of “Worth It.”
The event was hosted by Ninel Conde, William Levy, Alejandra Espinoza and El Dasa.
The show also featured heartfelt tributes, including for Don Francisco, whose show, “Sábado Gigante” will be ending after 53 years of being on-air.
Also honored for his long career was Mexican singer-songwriter Joan Sebastian, “The People’s Poet,” who passed away this past Monday after a long struggle against cancer.
