Going green is in this season and Arizona está más caliente que nunca! Being Echo friendly is a way of not only helping your environment but nourishing your pocket book as well. Want to catch on to the trend? Here are some simple tips that will save you time, money and put some green back into your life!

Plant a Tree: There are multiple benefits to planting a tree, absorption of CO2, production of fruit and shade! Add some green to your desert by planting a tree.

Close Empty Rooms: As Arizonans, we tend to crank the A.C up during the warm months, sky rocketing our electricity bill. With less air flowing to rooms in the house that are unoccupied, you can lower your bill. If not in use keep it closed.

Prepare Big Batches of Food: Many of us don’t have the time or energy to prepare daily meals, but it has been shown that by making bigger meals it will save money, time, promote homemade meals throughout the week and of course conserve energy! Save yourself some time and energy by making bigger meals.

Keep the Freezer Light: We all do it; buy frozen goods to find them burried at the bottom of the freezer months later. Simply clean out unused foods and shop smarter, a lighter freezer a lower energy bill!

Cover Pots While Cooking: Yes, by simply covering a pot while you cook you can almost double the cooking time as well as save energy.

Use Oven Light to Check on Food: Opening the Oven while you cook not only stops the rising of your cake but raises your electricity bill. Keep the cost low and your cakes high by using the oven light instead to check on food.

Reuse Shopping Bags: We see them all the time and do not think much of it but by keeping a few reusable bags in your car can condense the use of plastic bags over your life tremendously. One bag may not seem relevant but one bag times every Arizona Citizen equals a troubled environment. Shop green in style with a reused bag.

Take Quick Showers:  or better yet a bath! Even just a ten minute shower on average will use 50 gallons of water! Stay clean but Green!

Fly Less: No admissions are good for the air but driving alternatively to flying is cheaper and not as bad for the environment.  Reduce your travels by even just one trip a year.

Turn off what is not a Necessity: When traveling or leaving home for long periods of time turn off everything that you can, sure Casper might not appreciate it but your monthly bill and Green community will.
