(Washington, DC) — Macy’s is the latest company to jump in the wagon to cut ties with Donald Trump after his comments on illegal immigration.
In a statement released Wednesday, the retailer said that the Trump menswear collection is no longer a good fit for its stores. They write that they have “no tolerance for discrimination in any form.”
“We welcome all customers, and respect for the dignity of all people is a cornerstone of our culture,” they wrote. “We are disappointed and distressed by recent remarks about immigrants from Mexico. … In light of statements made by Donald Trump, we have decided to discontinue our business relationship.”
The menswear collection has been sold in Macy’s stores since 2004.
Following the statement, the Trump organization sent out the following letter:
Trump made the controversial comments earlier in June, during his announcement for presidential candidacy.
And Macy’s is not alone — NBC and Univision have also cut ties with the presidential hopeful following his comments, in which he said people coming into the U.S. from Mexico “are bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.
