Have you ever been to Times Square? No, we’re not talking about New York City… We mean the popular restaurant here in the Valley!
For 10 years, Times Square has called North Phoenix its home. Now, the Italian inspired eatery has opened its second location on Union Hills, just south of the original!
Like any successful business, it starts with a vision. “Our intent was to open an Italian restaurant with an open kitchen,” said owner Paullette Cano.
So she did, and Italian foodies can now rejoice. There are more pastas, sauces, and entrées on the menu to select from; and everyone is treated like family. Plus, if you’re looking for a nice spot to sip margaritas, their spacious bar is the perfect place pull up a seat and relax with your favorite cocktail.
What’s truly unique about this delicious spot is their menu. Though their pastas are what keep bringing customers back, Times Square also offers breakfast.
“Our breakfast is just a basic American one,’” she said. Having a traditional breakfast menu may seem ordinary to some foodies, but it’s the connection the staff has with their regulars and newbies that brings them back.
“Once you become a regular, sometimes the cooks start making your breakfast before you even walk in the door,” explained Cano.
The family-owned restaurant could’ve gone down the traditional path with their lunch and dinner menu; but instead, they decided to do something a little different.
“We’ve expanded our menu to incorporate seafood, veal dishes, and different sauces,” she said.
Mixing Italian ingredients with their own spin has made their menu one-of-a-kind. The tortellini d’angelo with mushrooms and chicken sauced in a tomato cream is a popular item. For the veal lovers, the ossobucco is a must-order because of the delicious fettuccini with veggies on the side – and of course, the tasty veal!
Another item you must check out is the pasta Giovanni. It’s a tomato cream sauce with a hint of red pepper, chicken, sausage, and mushroom.
All of the dishes are just too tempting not to try!
Cano’s inspired taste for Italian cuisine has led her to expand her business, giving fans of Times Square reason to rejoice. As the saying goes, everything happens for a reason. And without excellent restaurateurs such as Cano, Arizona would miss out on some truly exceptional food and multicultural flair.
