Chip Hale Named Diamondbacks New Manager

Former University of Arizona Baseball player Chip Hale has been named the Arizona Diamondbacks new manager.
Hale replaces Kirk Gibson.
According to the Arizona Diamondbacks web site, the team had acknowledged nine candidates for the post: Sandy Alomar Jr., Jay Bell, Tim Bogar, Andy Green, Hale, Joe McEwing, Phil Nevin, Jim Tracy and Turner Ward.
Hale joins newly hired General Manager Dave Stewart.
Since the 2012 baseball season, Hale was the bench coach for the Oakland Athletics under former Diamondbacks Manager Bob Melvin.
As a major league player, Hale played with the Minnesota Twins and the Los Angeles Dodgers. He had also coached with the New York Mets.
He was a member of the 1986 University of Arizona team that captured the College World Series Title.
He also managed the Tucson Sidewinders in 2006 to the Triple-A Title.
Hale becomes the sixth Manager in the Arizona Diamondbacks franchise history.
