Marco Antonio Solis “El Buki”

PHOENIX – He is one of the most recognizable voices in music and Hispanic culture with more than 300 songs, 20 million in record sales, 20 recordings and 30 years of ever-increasing success to his credit. Marco Antonio Solis, also known as “El Buki,” will entertain thousands of concert-goers this Friday at US Airways Center with fan favorites like, “Tu Carcel,” “La Venia Bendita and “Si No Te Hubieras Ido.” The Gracias por Estar Aqui World Tour takes its title from Solís latest album release, “Gracias Por Estar Aqui,” an album made of original songs of his own creation, recorded in Italy and the US and produced by him.

“Marco Antonio Solís promises to deliver a powerful, yet nostalgic performance to Valley of the Sun Hispanic residents during Hispanic Heritage Month,’” said Lupita Galaviz, president of Gala Entertainment. “El Buki is a performer who has never lost touch with his fans. We eagerly anticipate his return to Phoenix after a five-year absence. We welcome him back with open arms.”

The 54-year-old Michoacán native is one of the most respected and successful performers, songwriters and producers. He has achieved great success in Mexico, Central and South America, Puerto Rico, Spain as well as with Hispanic listeners in the United States. He received a Star on the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame, where he joined 70 Hispanics who’ve been honored in the same place.

“Live concerts such as El Buki’s are right on trend with the latest spending habits of Phoenix Hispanics,” said Tania Torres, president of Torres Multicultural Communications. “Hispanic households are devoting a larger share of their discretionary income to entertainment. Artists like Marco Antonio Solís appeal to Hispanic families of all generations, pulling at the heartstrings – and purse strings – of abuelas, hijos and nietas alike.”

A report released Tuesday by the Arizona Hispanic Chamber found that family-oriented events are big for Phoenix Hispanics because they tend to have bigger families than the general population. According to 2014 DATOS, Phoenix Hispanics spent $1.02 billion on “other entertainment” in 2012 alone.
