Time to dust off the dancing shoes, call your friends and head over to a new spicy restaurant that will have you shaking your hips all night long.
La Flor De Calabaza located in Downtown Phoenix is bringing Latin entertainment, karaoke, gourmet dishes and a hint of urban art all in one.
Walking into the chic restaurant customers receive more than a dining experience. On weekends, live Spanish rock music fills the atmosphere and when it isn’t live, tunes from Chino Y Nacho, Mana and other Latin artists are played.
David Moreno is one of the four owners of the unique hip spot.
“We really wanted to promote our Latin lounge and offer our community something different,” he said.
Although the eatery has been open for less than a year, it continues to improve on creating a memorable environment for each customer that walks through the door.
Not only does La Flor De Calabaza offer exquisite dishes, but it’s also known for supporting local artists.
“We promote local artists every First Friday by setting up a DJ while there is live art,” Moreno said.
While customers drop by to enjoy the music, art or to simply experience a fun ambiance, it is the delicious food that has the ability to hook one at first bite.
“I always recommend the guacamole. The way we prepare it is different because it’s cubed and chopped. The key to the dish is the cranberries that are added,” he said.
Although the dishes are Mexican, many are far from traditional.
For example, their coctel de elote is served in a deep oval dish and carries Sonoran style corn, cilantro and queso. Their one-of-a-kind torta not only has beef, but also chorizo, pico de gallo along with tomatoes and lettuce all inside a delicious bun.
The chef who prepares the delicious cuisine is Martin Ramos, who has been the restaurant’s primary chef since day one.
“I like preparing every dish here. My favorite is the tostadas de cochinita pibil,” he said.
Each dish is prepared with passion, an element that has driven the eatery to success in downtown Phoenix.
“We combine fresh flavors and ingredients in each entrée that is served here,” Ramos said.
As the eatery continues to grow and develop, so is the menu. In the days to come, more mouth-watering items will be available for customers to choose from.
Dining at La Flor De Calabaza is not the same without experiencing the bar and tasting the fine drinks, such as the popular Orgasmo to the Nalgas De Indio, each fun drink makes dining at the eatery an adventure in itself.
There is no denying that La Flor De Calabaza offers something for each customer from all walks in life to enjoy.
