Familiarity breeds comfort.

It’s simple to date someone who you may have a lot in common with. Someone who shares the same holiday celebrations, taste in music and all-around culture that you are accustomed to.

But as people, we evolve, grow and develop new interests.

With billions of people in the world, the chance of falling in love with someone who is greatly different than what we are used to is possible.

Dating someone who is different than you might feel exciting and spark your interest or curiosity. Thus, the beginning of the relationship will be all about discovering their background, beliefs and opinions.

Featured relationship expert in Latina Magazine Sujeiry Gonzalez explained how White and Latino couples are the most common interracially.

“Latinas are usually encouraged to date white men if they choose to date outside their race. It comes down to colorism and wanting to “whiten the race.” This issue is still prevalent among the Latino culture and women are definitely more encouraged to date “white or light,” she said.

Overall, dating someone outside of one’s own culture may be beneficial and enticing for both parties.

Learn about a new culture: You will learn unknown facts about a foreign country. Facts and minor quirks make the relationship interesting because not only are you drawn to them by their exotic look but there will always be something to talk about and discover.

Music Choices Expand: You will hear their music at family gatherings, at their home and in their car. Never heard the music they listen to before? That’s fine. Your music playlist automatically becomes diverse. This is a two-way street however, because you also will have the opportunity to teach your significant other your favorite jams.Hands

New Eateries To Discover: Sure you can check out a little Peruvian restaurant that you’ve been wanting to try for quite some time on your own, but, the experience becomes much more enticing when you share the meal with someone who can show you the ropes on what to try and explain entrees foreign to you.

Break The Stereotypes: You will get to know someone for who they truly are, and not what the media or other sources might portray.

Bi-cultural children: Now, if you get serious with your significant other and decide to have children, your children will have the best of both worlds and also a mixture of both cultures creating a unique and beautiful child.
