PHOENIX — Now this is a never-seen-before worker’s benefit.
Starbucks is introducing a program that will allow their workers to work on an online degree at Arizona State University at a discounted price.
Through a partnership with the school, the program will be offered to 135,000 U.S. employees who work at least 20 hours a week.
According to ABC 15, the company said the program does not require workers to stay at Starbucks after they earn their degrees. They can also pick from a wide range of educational programs that aren’t related to Starbucks work.
It is still unknown how much this will cost Starbucks Corp. They have not disclosed any financial terms of its agreement with ASU.
Tuition for an online degree at ASU currently stands at about $10,000 a year. For the freshmen and sophomore years, Starbucks and Arizona State say they will put around $6,500 on average toward the estimated $20,000 in total tuition.
