There is no doubt many people are curious to know what their future holds.
We seek advice from family, friends, mentors and even those who have the skills to predict the future.
According to the Pew Forum Research, 15 percent of Americans have sought advice from a fortuneteller psychic.
Diana Rivera is one of many people in the United States who practices psychic readings and helps others in their daily lives.
“It is a lesson in being aware, practicing meditation and realizing that not everyone has the same gift I have. It is a burden at times to be able to feel what others are going through and see things others do not but it is a part of who I am nonetheless,” she said.
Rivera uses her talent to guide others to make decisions and seek advice.
“You have free will and choices to do whatever you wish. A reading just helps you along the way,” Rivera said.
There is something intriguing about knowing the future before it happens, which is what draws the 15 percent of Americans into the business.
30-year-old Colombian Catalina Monsalve is one person who has paid a visit to a psychic.
“I was curious, but I remember feeling exhausted and tired. It was like I had crossed a boundary of knowledge I was not supposed to know,” she said.
Although Monsalve felt indifferent towards her encounter with a psychic, Rivera finds pleasure in healing others.
“When I do a reading or healing I am literally giving all of myself. I think it’s fascinating to get to know a person and really read them,” Rivera said.
Although visiting a psychic may seem innocent and validating, it may become your dependence. But ultimately the impact of the readings lie in the client’s hand.
“It’s important to remember that you must live your own life and make unbiased choices,” said Rivera.
Those choices may be easier said than done, but for the curious minds like Monsalve and the heart of helping others like Rivera, readings will always be around to guide others who may be searching for answers.
