Phoenix Suns Relaunch Suns.com as Responsive Website
The Phoenix Suns relaunched their official website, Suns.com, today with a new responsive design, in order to create a mobile-friendly fan experience. The move to a responsive site is part of a league-wide initiative and marks the eighth overall redesign of the Suns’ site since it originally launched in 1995.
The responsive design will ensure the best experience for all visitors, whether logging in from a desktop computer, tablet or smartphone. The site will automatically reconfigure to provide a layout most conducive to each device type, improving navigation for the growing number of fans accessing the site via mobile devices. During the 2013-14 season, 61 percent of traffic to the Suns’ digital content came through a mobile device, up from 39 percent in 2012-13.
The site also includes a new video player built directly into the homepage that features highlights, exclusive interviews and original content produced by the Suns Digital team. In addition, the page displays a fiery background, playing off of the Suns’ 2013-14 marketing campaign, “Ignite the Future.”
The Suns were recognized by the NBA with a Digital Innovators Award earlier this season, and have long been considered leaders in the digital space. Twice named the top team site in the NBA by The Sports Business Journal, Suns.com welcomes visitors from more than 220 countries each season.
