After losing consecutive series to the Dodgers and the Mets at home, the Arizona Diamondbacks traveled to Los Angeles to try and find better luck away from Chase Field to face the Dodgers once again.
The Diamondbacks were able to win one while losing two to the their division rivals.
The series finale turned out to be a heartbreaker.
During the sixth inning, Dodger’s outfielder, Yasiel Puig hit a three run home run. The Dodgers eventually won the game 4-1. Puig batted as the Diamondbacks opted to intentionally walk Adrian Gonzalez with a man on base. Gonzalez has been a nightmare for Arizona this season, during the three game series he finished with 7 hits in 14 at bats.
Arizona won the first game of the series 4-2, snapping a 6 game losing streak. The Diamondbacks record stands now at 5-16.
The Diamondbacks will remain on the road to start a four game series against the Chicago Cubs. Bronson Arroyo (1-1, 1.95) will start for Arizona while the Cubs will send Travis Wood (0-2, 3.00) to the mound.
As of now the Cubs is the only team in Major League Baseball this season that has not won a series. The Cubs lost to the Reds on Sunday 8-2. For the Cubs, first baseman, Anthony Rizzo has been hot with the bat lately; in his last 13 games he is batting .435.
Arizona’s biggest problem this season has been its pitching. The Diamondbacks rotation has an ERA of 7.42.
The following is the rest of the probable rotation for the four game series:
