Everything points out that freshmen sensation Aaron Gordon will leave for the NBA after the season. But the season is not over yet. Sunday night Gordon may have played his last game at McKale Center.
What a game for Gordon!
The freshmen finished with 19 point and 15 rebounds. According to Arizona’s head coach Sean Miller, after the game Gordon came up to him and told him “coach I finished with 15 rebounds,” as Miller had challenged him to grab 15 boards in a game.
“That’s looking too far into the future if you ask me. As close as it may be, we’re focused on the present and focused on winning games right now,” said Gordon when asked about the possibility of entering the NBA draft.
The Wildcats defeat Stanford University 79-66 and in doing so, the Arizona Wildcats became Pac-12 champions. The Cats were unbeaten at home this season.
For Arizona T.J. McConnell scored 14 points, Gabe York 12, Johnson 11 and Kaleb Tarczewski added 10.
Arizona’s season is not finished yet as they still have to travel to the State of Oregon to face both Oregon State and the Oregon Ducks.
“This was one of our three goals we set this year. They were winning the regular season, the Pac‐12 tournament, and the National Championship. The season isn’t over yet though. We still have two games left, and right now we’re trying to play for a seed and for ourselves. We want to go down in Arizona history as one of the best teams ever,” commented Arizona Guard Nick Johnson after the game.
For the Cardinal Josh Huestis finished with 22 points and 12 rebounds, Anthony Brown added 14 points.
Stanford’s record stands now at 18-10, 9-7 in Pac-12 play.
