Selena Gomez Diagnosed with Lupus

U.S. actress and singer Selena Gomez, who suspended the January concerts in Australia and Asia of her “Stars Dance” tour, has been suffering for several years from lupus, an autoimmune disease, the online entertainment news site Popdust said.

“Sources close to the singer tell Popdust that Selena was diagnosed with lupus a couple of years ago and that she has suffered multiple ‘flares’ recently, causing facial swelling, extreme fatigue, headaches and joint pain,” the Web site said on Friday.

One of the sources, according to Popdust, said that “Selena has been going full throttle the past few years and her lupus is really catching up with her right now.”

Other U.S. media, citing the same news source, note that Gomez’s reps have not replied to questions about the artist’s condition.

Last week it was announced that Selena Gomez, 21, would suspend the concerts scheduled for early January on the final stage of her tour.

A statement by the songstress published at the same time said she wanted to take some time to address the disease and look after herself better if she wants to “live a full and healthy life.”
