snowflake-nail-polish (1)There might not be much snow on the grounds here in the Valley, but some companies are making up for it with nail polish.

Snowy topcoats—white confetti or white sparkles suspended in clear polish—are this season’s hottest trend. There’s Nails Inc Kensington Church Street in Snowflake, Elf Essential Nail Polish in Enchanted, Essie Nail Polish in Peak of Chic, and Illamasaqua Nail Varnish in Blizzard; you can find them at the drugstore, at Sephora, and probably at your local nail salon.

Now how do you wear the stuff so it looks pretty and not cheesy?

Try a layer of white flurries over a deep navy blue. The navy adds a touch of sophistication that you wouldn’t get from any other shade of blue; red or green would make your look too literal about the holidays.

White on top of white also works, so your nails appear to have actual snow on them. Snowy topcoats also look great against black or cool gray, and you can play around with just adding it to the tips, too. It’s a little more subtle.

These trendy nail polishes are also the perfect stocking stuffer, so if you’re not feeling the trend, chances are someone on your shopping list is!
